Conservation > Treatments > Jan Saenredam after Hendrik Goltzius, Death and the Foot Soldier
The three-dimensional appearance of this very finely hatched print is greatly improved by the conservation treatment. Surface effects like the sheen on the young gallant’s mantle are much more apparent following the treatment. This print was adhered to a non-archival board before treatment, so this was removed and it was remounted in an archival mount. The edge tear in the top right hand corner is not particularly evident amongst the clouds in the before treatment photograph but by comparing it to the after treatment photograph, the improvement made by this tear repair can be seen.
